New York!, New York!

Close your eyes and picture a city filled with tall buildings that almost reach the clouds and Bright yellow cabs as far as the eye can see. Add hundreds of neon billboards advertising things from foot cream to the new Batman movie. Then grab as many people from all corners of the earth dress some up and dress some down, and don't dress some at all spread them all throughout the city And finally place in the corner of the city In the water a big green lady holding a torch and a book. Welcome To New York!

Three weeks ago my Mum my little Sister my big Sister my Nana my poppa and 1 all went to New York! we had such a great time going up the Empire State Building, seeing the Statue of Liberty, Going to Washington DC and seeing the White House, exploring Times Square, wandering around Central Park and so much more.

Another thing that was great was the shopping the shops in New York are amazing! My favourite shop was Midtown Comics, it had it all, Comics, Action Figures, Graphic Novels, T-shirts what didn't they have? I must say when I entered that store my inner geek exploded out of me and started drooling on almost everything they had in the store.

Emily had heaps of fun especially when we went to a store called American Girl and she bought a $200 doll.

We all had an amazing time. I love New York there is something there for everyone and I think that if you ever find your self with a few thousand dollars in your pocket you should check it out.

Dream Jar Trails

I'm guessing most of you know who Roald Dahl is. I mean he's only one of the most famous authors of all time. He's written some of the most famous books ever, such as Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, The BFG, Matilda and The Twits and that's just to name a few. He not only wrote children's books he also wrote adults books.

Ronald Dahl wasn't only an author either. He was also in the Air Force, and if you thought that that was cool, just wait until you hear this: he was also a Spy like James Bond. "The name is Dahl, Roald Dahl." I mean, wow, his life was awesome.

This year marks Roald Dahl's 100th birthday, although sadly he is not here for it for he died when he was 74. In celebration of his life, celebrities such as Prof Steven Hawking, Simon Cowell, Graham Norton and Steven Spielberg (to name a few) have designed dream jars.
Dream Jars are jars that famous people have designed that represent a dream that they have had.

My family and I have been on the hunt for Dream Jars and tonight we are gonna look for a dream jar with real gold in it. Pretty cool, huh?

Here is a selection of the Dream Jars I have found so far:

Marvel Legends vs Marvel Select

Marvel Legends are a brand of 6” action figures based on Marvel characters, produced by a toy brand called Toybiz and then by Hasbro.

Marvel Selects are a brand of 7” action figures and are also based on characters created by Marvel. Marvel Selects are produced by Diamond Select.

Now that you know a bit about them both I will tell you why I prefer Marvel Legends.
Marvel Legends definitely have better articulation so you can get them in some very dynamic poses. This is great for doing stop motions. Although they often reuse the same body molds (for instance the Bucky Cap mold has been used on a lot of figures) in most cases it's alright because it suits the characters. You also get a bonus build a figure piece where if you get all the figures in the wave you get a bonus figure that you get to put together with all the build a figure pieces you have. You also have a way bigger variety of characters.

Marvel Selects on the other hand have better sculpts,  better paint and usually come with a base. They don't have very good articulation so they're more like statues than action figures. Although some of their newer figures have quite good articulation.

Marvel Legends

Marvel Legends pros and cons:
Pros:
Articulation
Characters
Build-a-figure

Cons:
Reused body molds
Paint not usually as good as Marvel Select

Marvel Select

Marvel Select pros and cons:
Pros:
Great paint detailing
Great sculpt
You sometimes get a base

Cons:
Not great articulation

So tell me what you think is better - Marvel Select or Marvel Legends? (It better be Marvel Legends.) It really depends on what you're buying them for, like if you want them for stop motions I would get Marvel Legends but if you want them for admiring all the details then I would get Marvel Select and if you want them for both do whatever you want. So have a think about that before you go spending your money.

Batz

On Friday night my family and I went out to Hyde Park to go bat hunting.
We learnt a whole lot about bats and to help you learn about your favourite winged nocturnal creepy things I've put together this list of five things you might not know about bats.

1. Blind as a Bat.
To the confusion of many people bats are not actually blind they have as good a sight as us humans.

2. Mum Calls the Shots.
Now this is a weird one so be prepared… Ready? Ok. So when the mummy and daddy bat have a baby, the mum will keep what she needs from the dad to make the baby for as long as she likes, and when she chooses to, she will make the baby. This is because sometimes it might be to cold for the baby to survive so the mum waits until it's a good temperature and then she will have her baby.

3. What Does the Bat Say? (I know it's dumb but I couldn't think of anything else)
Bats voices are a bit like dog whistles (you know those whistles that when you blow them no human can hear it but dogs can cos they hear at a higher frequency than us.) Bats voices are like that so we can't hear them without special equipment.

4. Pick on Someone Your Own Size.
The bats we saw were very small - so small that you could fit about five in your hand. On the other hand there are some huge bats, the biggest of which is the flying fox which has a wingspan of 6 feet.

5. Arms or Wings - Make up Your Mind.
Bats (very much like ducks with their feet) have webbed arms so their arms also work as wings.

So there you go - some bat facts. Argh, try saying that ten times fast: ‘Bat facts, bat facts, bats fatcs.’ Duh - dang it. I think I’ve gone batty!

ComiCon!

On Saturday, my dream came true. I went to ComiCon! You might be wondering, "What is ComiCon?" Well, let me tell you:

Every summer since 1970, fans of Dr Who, Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Game of Thrones (the list just goes on) gather up in a huge building to meet all of their favourite celebrities and buy exclusive collectables. It's the place where grown men can dress up as their favourite superheroes and hang out with people who share their passion without being embarrassed. I personally met someone who also collects Marvel Legends action figures like me.

I loved ComiCon and I think it is perfect for anyone who likes comics and pop culture related things.

The Biggest Toy Shop in the World

Have you ever dreamed about being in the world's biggest toy store? I haven't dreamed about it - I've experienced it! It's called Hamleys and it has seven floors of fun and over 50 000 toys on sale.

We were lucky to get in when there were hardly any people because we got free VIP tickets. We got to go in two hours before it opened, otherwise it would be like sardines in a can.

My favourite floor was the very top floor where all the superhero stuff was. Sadly there weren't very many action figures but there were some and after a little rummaging I eventually found a Captain Marvel figure. That might not seem like much to you, but for someone who collects action figures it was a dream come true. Until I saw the price tag...thirty quid for a Marvel Legends figure. Now that's a price tag only its mother could love!

There were lots of really cool activities too, like a treasure hunt, a puppet show, magic balloons and so much more. I loved Hamleys. It's so big, so awesome and soo much fun.

What Behind the Cupboard Door Chapter 6

"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN. I was so,so worried like you were gone and then I was and then but and, and cos." Mom screamed with tears in her eyes. So I told mum the truth or at least the watered down version of it I didn't want her to worry about it so I was just gonna leave it to myself. I told her that the suit case in the cupboard fell on me and I got knocked out and that my head hurts and I just want to go to sleep now I left it at that.
I didn't get any sleep that night i mean you can't blame me with all the stuff i had just been through I I'm surprised I didn't faint just thinking about it I was also creeped out that this random old man had been living under our house for who knows how long it's just so weird. Why is this happening to me I'll think about it tomorrow I just wanna go to sleep now.

BOOM!i get up with a jolt everything is destroyed I look around to see Emily's rooms roof caved in I run up to save her but it's to late she's she's i put my hand over my mouth and tears go down my face I can't believe what I'm seeing suddenly I'm filled with rage whoever did this is and deadman and then I realised Harrison I run down stairs and he's there in the kitchen bandaging up his leg I run up to him and punch him right in his face I feel my knuckles crack I shout "YOU DID THIS YOUR THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD HAVE"
"i didn't do this I swear but I think I know who did" he says with blood coming out of his noes.
